(Peterborough, ON) - With the 15th overall pick in the 2015 CHL Import Draft on Tuesday morning, Petes GM Michael Oke selected Finnish right winger Jonne ("Yawn-ee") Tammela from the Kalpa Jr. program.

Tammela, a 5'10", 180lbs native of Kuopia, Finland, was drafted in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft in the fourth round, 118th overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning last week. Petes defencemen Matt Spencer (2015, 2nd round) and Dominik Masin (2014, 2nd round) are currently at the Tampa Bay Lightning development camp along with Tammela.

"Jonne is a skilled and speedy winger with very good stick-handling ability," noted Oke. "He likes to play in traffic and doesn't hesitate to dig in the corners, which compliments his strong 200-foot game."

The 1997-born Tammela played 26 games with Kalpa Jr. in 2014/15, recording 11 goals and 16 assists for 27 points and 26 penalty minutes. He models his game after Patrick Kane of the Chicago Blackhawks, and is also a soccer fan. His father Pasi played pro hockey in Finland, and his younger brother Jussi competed with Finland at the U16 international tournament.
