Memphis Redbirds News Release

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Memphis Redbirds walked off over the visiting Colorado Springs Sky Sox for the second consecutive night as Matt Williams worked a four-pitch walk in the bottom of the ninth inning for a 1-0 win on Princess Night at AutoZone Park.

Catcher Cody Stanley scored the winning run for Memphis, who was one of four Redbirds to be issued a walk in the frame. Three free passes were intentional by pitcher David Goforth, who ended the game with four straight balls to Williams.

It was the Redbirds' (41-37) second straight last at-bat win and eighth of the season. Four of the club's last-at victories have come against Colorado Springs, which all came in back-to-back variety.

Redbirds starter Zach Petrick scattered four hits over eight shutout innings in a no-decision. The right-hander walked none and struck out two. Sixty-three of his 84 pitches were thrown for strikes. Sam Tuivailala (3-0) worked around two hits for a scoreless ninth and the win.

Colorado Springs starter Tyler Cravy limited the Redbirds offense to three hits over 7 2/3 innings.

The Redbirds continue their season-long 11-game homestand tomorrow when they welcome the Oklahoma City Dodgers to AutoZone Park for the first time in 2015. Left-hander Tyler Lyons (5-3, 3.16) will man the bump against Dodgers lefty Eric Surkamp (3-2, 5.14) in Tuesday's 7:05pm CT series opener.

All Hot Dogs will be priced at just $1, courtesy of King Cotton. Gates open at 6pm.
