Gates will open at 6 p.m. for tomorrow night's match so fans can watch the beginning of the Women's World Cup semifinal match between the United States and Germany.

The winner of Tuesday's game will travel to face the winner of the Sporting KC vs. FC Dallas matchup in the Open Cup quarterfinals. The Dynamo are trying to advance to the quarterfinals for the first time since 2009.

This is the first-ever U.S. Open Cup meeting between the two teams. The Dynamo are 7-8-6 all-time in the regular season against the Rapids and 4-1-4 in home games. This season, the clubs played to a 0-0 draw on March 28 at BBVA Compass Stadium.

The Rapids are in their second season under head coach and former U.S. national team midfielder Pablo Mastroeni. The Rapids feature veteran Marcelo Sarvas, who won three MLS Cups in the last four years with the LA Galaxy, and Dallas native Dillon Powers, the 2013 MLS Rookie of the Year. The Rapids advanced to the Round of Sixteen after defeating the Colorado Springs Switchbacks of USL in the fourth round of the competition on June 16.

The U.S. Open Cup is the oldest soccer competition in the United States, in its 102nd edition this year. The single-elimination knockout tournament is open to all United States Soccer Federation affiliated teams, from amateur clubs to MLS clubs. The 2015 edition began with the preliminary round on April 25 with a total of 91 teams, followed by 42 lower-level clubs meeting in the first round. Clubs from USL (U.S. third division) entered the competition in the second round and teams from the NASL (U.S. second division) joined in the third round. All 17 American-based MLS clubs entered the competition for the fourth round. The Open Cup champion receives a place in the CONCACAF Champions League next year. The Seattle Sounders won the 2014 U.S. Open Cup with a 3-1 victory over the Philadelphia Union after extra time in the final at PPL Park.

After tonight's game, the Dynamo will remain at home to host the Chicago Fire for an 8:00 p.m. CT matchup this Friday, July 3. For tickets for the Dynamo's tenth season, including five-game plans starting at $99, visit www.HoustonDynamo.com or call 713-276-GOAL.
