Chicago Fire Continue Quest for Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, Head to Lone Star State for MLS Action

The Chicago Fire continue their quest for its fifth Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup trophy when they host USL side Charlotte Independence for a round of sixteen match at Toyota Park on Tuesday, June 30 at 7:30 p.m. CT. The match will be available via live webstream at www.Chicago-Fire.com.

Following the midweek Open Cup match, the Fire head to the Lone Star State and take on the Houston Dynamo at BBVA Compass Stadium on Friday, July 3 at 8 p.m. CT (Univision Deportes Network/ESPN Deportes 97.5 FM). With the Dynamo's move to the Western Conference, this is the only MLS match between the two sides this year.

CHICAGO FIRE vs. CHARLOTTE INDEPENDENCE

- Since 1998, the Fire have compiled a 37-12-4 record in Open Cup play.

- The Men in Red are 24-1-1 in matches played in the state of Illinois.

- The Fire have reached the semifinal round eleven times and the final six times.

CHICAGO FIRE at HOUSTON DYNAMO

- The Fire are 5-8-7 all-time in regular season matches against the Houston Dynamo, including a 2-5-3 record in matches played in Houston.

- This is the first time Fire forward Jason Johnson will face his former side. Johnson, acquired in a trade with the Dynamo on April 13, 2015, was selected in the first round (13th overall) by the Dynamo in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft.

- Palmer joined MLS in March 2010 when he was signed by the Houston Dynamo. In one-and-a-half seasons with the Dynamo, Palmer scored three goals and tallied one assist across 45 appearances before he was traded to the Portland Timbers on July 21, 2011.

CHICAGO FIRE U-18S WIN GROUP F AT USSDA PLAYOFFS

The Chicago Fire U-18 Academy side finished atop Group F at the U.S. Soccer Development Academy playoffs in Westfield, Ind. The U-18s defeated Sporting KC 2-0 and BW Gottschee 1-0, and drew the New York Red Bulls 2-2 to win their group.

Seeded 15th overall in the national playoff field, the U-18s take on the Houston Dynamo in the quarterfinals on July 7.
