LA Galaxy News Release

CARSON, Calif. (Monday, June 29, 2015) - The LA Galaxy will play in two matches this week, beginning Wednesday, June 30 on the road at Avaya Stadium against the San Jose Earthquakes in the 2015 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 (7:30 p.m. PT, www.lagalaxy.com). The Galaxy will then return to StubHub Center for a match against Toronto FC on Saturday, July 4 at 7:30 p.m. PT (Time Warner Cable SportsNet, Time Warner Cable Deportes). LA Galaxy II will return to StubHub Center for a match against OKC Energy FC on Sunday, July 5 at 5 p.m. PT.

LA Galaxy have gone 24-12-1 all time in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and are coming off of a 6-1 victory over PSA Elite on Wednesday, June 17. Alongside the LA Galaxy and San Jose in the West bracket of the Open Cup are the Portland Timbers and Real Salt Lake. Should the Galaxy defeat the Earthquakes on Wednesday, they would face the winner of the Timbers-Salt Lake match to host the West final on July 21 or July 22.

The Galaxy (6-6-7, 25 points) are 5-2-6 all-time against Toronto FC, scoring 19 goals while conceding just 13. In home matches against the Timbers, the Galaxy have gone 4-1-2. In their most recent meeting, the Galaxy defeated Toronto 3-0 behind two goals from Robbie Keane and another from Alan Gordon on October 4, 2014 at StubHub Center.

Galaxy will introduce midfielder Steven Gerrard in front of fans this Saturday at StubHub Center during halftime of the team's match against Toronto FC. The match on Saturday will also feature a post-game fireworks show, the longest consecutively-running 4th of July Fireworks Show in all of sports.

The LA Galaxy fell to the San Jose Earthquakes 3-1 Saturday night at Stanford Stadium as a first-half goal from Juninho wasn't enough to overcome three goals from the Earthquakes in this year's first edition of the California Clasico.
