York Revolution News Release

The York Revolution played two at Santander Stadium against the Bridgeport Bluefish in front of a season-high crowd of 5,724 including dogs and their owners on Bark in the Park night on Sunday evening. Rommie Lewis got the start for the Revs in game one against the Bluefish, after getting his start washed out the night before and did not fare well in the make-up game.

Lewis got hit early, surrendering two runs in the first inning on an RBI single by Welington Dotel and a sacrifice fly by John Alonso respectively. After tacking on another run in the second, Bridgeport added two more runs in the third on back to back doubles by Andres Rodriguez and Luis Rodriguez, after Lewis walked the leadoff hitter Jonathan Galvez.

The Revs finally got to Bluefish starter DJ Mitchell in the fourth after a single by Yeicok Calderon and a two-bagger by Luis De La Cruz, which set the table for Telvin Nash. Nash was able to bring home a run on a groundout to third and Wilson Valdez got back another when Bridgeport shortstop Josh Prince booted a routine ground ball, cutting the lead to 5-2.

The Revs added another run in the sixth on a fielder's choice, but the comeback bid ultimately fell short, as the Revs dropped the opener in seven innings by a final score of 5-3.

York fell behind early once again in game two of the twinbill, as Bridgeport pounced on Revs starter Shawn Hill in the second, after Hill had secured the first two outs of the frame. Hill walked Bluefish catcher Jobduan Morales, which gave way to a string of hits by the Bridgeport hitters, resulting in a two run lead when the dust finally settled.

The Revs got on the board in the third on an Eric Patterson sac fly and evened the score the following inning on a Starlin Rodriguez RBI double. Patterson then put York on top in the fifth inning, with an RBI single scoring WIlson Valdez. Patterson got frisky on the bases as well, stealing both second and third, but the Revs failed to plate him to give them some insurance.

Stephen Penney entered the game in the sixth after a scoreless inning from Mike DeMark, but was greeted rudely by John Alonso, who smoked an opposite field homer into the Apple Subaru lawn section to knot the score at three.

Bridgeport and York then traded zeroes, pushing the game into extras, with Josh Judy, Edward Paredes and Frank Gailey all putting up scoreless innings for the Revolution.

However, Andres Perez provided the heroics in the 10th, after struggling with runners in scoring position all night, connecting on a fastball for a two out RBI single off of Bridgeport reliever Nick Hill for the walkoff win.

Revs left fielder Nick Ferdinand also had two defensive gems in the game, nailing Bluefish runners with two strong throws at home and at second.

The Revs take on the Sugar Land Skeeters on Monday night to open a four-game series on Tennis Night at Santander Stadium, with Logan Williamson (2-4, 3.06) taking on Roy Merritt (2-1, 1.00) in the first game of the series. Tickets are on sale at YorkRevolution.com, (717) 801-HITS, and in-person at the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office.

Notes: Lewis allowed more than three earned runs for just the second time in 12 starts. Reliever Beau Vaughan worked 1.1 scoreless innings in the opener and has now turned in a pair of scoreless outings since returning from injury. De La Cruz went 3-for-4 in the opener, tying a season-high in hits for the third time. The Revs left the bases loaded twice in the first game, as both teams stranded 10 runners. Hill took a no-decision, allowing two runs over four innings, coming back on short rest. It was the fourth time this season that Hill started the second game of a doubleheader and twice in as many starts. Gailey (1-0) earned the win in game two, and has not allowed an earned run in six innings over four appearances with York. Perez' walk-off hit in the nightcap was the Revs' first hit since the fifth inning. Perez becomes the seventh player in Revs history to record two walk-off RBI in his York career and fourth to record two walk-off hits. The walk-off win was the Revs' third of the season. With a scoreless eighth, Paredes extends his scoreless streak to 11.2 innings, the longest by a Revs reliever this season. Ferdinand had a Revs season-best 14-game hitting streak snapped in the second game. It was the league's longest active streak, and marked just the fourth time in 24 games with York that he has not registered a hit. York improves to 4-4 in extra inning games on the season.
