Bullfrogs Overwhelm Bombers Again, 8-4; Playoff Madness Ensues
June 28, 2015 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, Wis.- At this point, the Bullfrogs expect to win, and do so in dominant fashion, every time they take the field. They are now winners of six in a row after an 8-4 defeat of Battle Creek that propelled them to another series sweep.
Green Bay has still failed to lose a series in 16 different tries (not including to be resumed St. Cloud series). The win marks a perfect 6-0 record against the Bombers, and third consecutive victory on the road.
The Bullfrogs scored first after Logan Taylor (Louisville) singled to start the game and was plated by a groundball that went through the legs of second baseman, Lin Li (National Taiwan Sports University), off the bat of Robb Paller.
Green Bay added another run, scored by Taylor again, in the third inning with a sacrifice fly from Ryan Donovan. It was his 30th RBI of the campaign, a league high.
With a 2-0 advantage, Green Bay socked open a wide gap with five runs in the fifth inning. Taylor, who commenced an inning as the batter four times, led off with a base hit and after a Robb Paller (Columbia) walk, Danny Rosenbaum (Louisville) bashed a two-RBI hit.
More runs came through because of defensive mistakes. Back-to-back errors by Battle Creek's Tyler Walsh (Belmont) at short stop, allowed two more runs to score. The fifth run in the inning was plated after a sac-fly from Jack Strunc (Washington State).
Up 8-0, Battle Creek would score a run from a Dan Swain (Siena) RBI single, and three off of Jeremy Graf in the final inning was the first time the side-winder had allowed any runs in nine outings dating back to June 4th at Madison.
The ninth inning RBI hits for Battle Creek were collected by Cayce Bredlau (Austin Peay), Chris Helsel (Penn State), and Jordan Pachecho (Cal-State Fullerton).
The victory went to Parker Hamilton (Florida Gulf Coast/2-1) who had his best start of the season. He went 6IP/5H/8K-3BB. The eight strikeouts were a season high, and it was the second time Hamilton has lasted through six innings on the slab.
A loss was tallied to Alden Cartwright (LSU/0-1) who managed 4IP/2R(1ER)/6K-1BB in his first start of the Northwoods League season.
Logan Taylor finished 3-of-4, with a hit-by-pitch, for the Bullfrogs with four runs scored.
