Birmingham Barons News Release

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - A strong start from Jackson's Misael Siverio and three runs in support of the lefty led the Generals (30-41, 1-2) to an eventual 4-2 victory over the Barons (35-37, 2-1) Saturday night at Regions Field, snapping a four-game winning streak.

Siverio (3-7, 4.28 ERA) tossed six innings, allowing just one run on four hits while striking out five. The lone run allowed by the starter came in the third inning as Keenyn Walker floated a sacrifice fly to right to score Adrian Nieto from third.

Jackson relievers gave up a run in the eighth with the Barons threatening in the late innings. Leading just 3-1 entering the frame with Trevor Miller on the hill, Tim Anderson led off with a single. Generals manager Jim Horner went to the pen and brought on Trey Cochran-Gill to face Courtney Hawkins. The slugger grounded out, driving in Anderson, but the well ran dry afterwards.

Despite back-to-back hits in the bottom of the ninth to put runners at second and third, Cochran-Gill closed out the contest to earn his third save of the year. The Jackson win also snapped a four-game losing streak at the hands of the Barons.

Birmingham starter Tyler Danish (4-5, 4.68 ERA) was charged with the loss, giving up three runs on just four hits through five innings. Tied 1-1 in the top of the fourth, Jackson plated runs on back-to-back doubles by Jabari Blash and Tyler Smith to go ahead of the Barons. His first run given up came on a solo home run by Marcus Littlewood in the third.
