Fort Wayne TinCaps News Release

MIDLAND, Mich. -- TinCaps pitchers struck out 15 Great Lakes Loons batters on the way to a 2-1 win at Dow Diamond on Saturday night. Fort Wayne has won six of its last seven games.

Brad Wieck (W, 2-0) struck out nine batters over 5 1/3 innings in his second start in a TinCaps uniform. After allowing a run in the first inning, the 6-foot-9 left-hander settled in to keep the home team off the board for the rest of his time on the mound.

Seth Lucio replaced Wieck with two runners on base in the sixth and proceeded to strike out back-to-back batters. The righty reliever stayed in for the seventh and fanned three more. Lefty Kyle McGrath faced the minimum in the eighth and struck out one. Yimmi Brasoban (S, 1) then finished it off with a 1-2-3 ninth.

Fort Wayne (2-1, 34-37) set a season high for strikeouts in a nine-inning game with 15. The TinCaps recorded a season-high 16 strikeouts in their 13-inning win at Great Lakes (1-2, 39-32) on Thursday.

The TinCaps did just enough at the plate on Saturday in the fourth. Third baseman Luis Tejada led the frame off with a double. Two batters later second baseman Chase Jensen plated Tejada with a double of his own off Kevin Guzman (L, 4-6). After a wild pitch moved Jensen to third base, catcher Jose Ruiz hit a sacrifice fly.

The four-game series concludes Sunday afternoon at 2:05. All-Star left-hander Thomas Dorminy (5-5, 4.41) starts for Fort Wayne against Dodgers prospect Grant Holmes (3-0, 3.68). The game can be heard on ESPN Radio 1380, TinCaps.com, and the TuneIn Radio app beginning at 1:45.
