June 27, 2015 - Major League Lacrosse (MLL) - Denver Outlaws News Release
DENVER - The Denver Outlaws (5-5) dropped a 14-11 contest to the Charlotte Hounds (3-7) at American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte, N.C., on Saturday. The Outlaws came within two goals of the Hounds after a seven-goal fourth quarter, with John Grant, Jr. and rookie Erik Adamson completing hat tricks for the Outlaws in the final frame.
The Outlaws remain three games behind first place New York with tonight's loss and have four games remaining on the schedule.
Charlotte outperformed Denver in multiple categories, outshooting the Outlaws 38-to-25, recovering 35-of-21 groundballs and winning the overall faceoff battle 20-to-6. The Hounds were also successful on the power-play, converting on all three opportunities.
After trailing 4-3 going into the second half, Denver was on the wrong end of an eight-goal run by Charlotte to begin the third quarter. The Hounds held the Outlaws scoreless for 22:57 in the middle of the game before a Chris Bocklet goal to close the third quarter ended the drought. Denver responded with a five-goal run in the fourth quarter, but the Outlaws were unable to match the Hound before time ran out.
Denver returns home for their 10th annual Mile High Fourth of July celebration against the Boston Cannons Saturday at 7 p.m. MDT at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.
