SIOUX FALLS, SD-Miguel Pena (5-2, 2.57 ERA) threw a first pitch strike and never looked back as he coasted through the Winnipeg Goldeyes (16-21) lineup on his way to a complete game performance for Sioux Falls (16-20) on Saturday night. The Canaries went on to win the contest by a final of 11-3 in front of 3,112 fans at Sioux Falls Stadium.

Pena shut the door on Winnipeg through the first three innings before giving up two runs in the top of the fourth and just one run in the top of the fifth. The southpaw picked up his fifth win in a Birds' uniform and his first complete game with Sioux Falls. Pena tallied nine innings of work, giving up nine hits and only one earned run throughout the night.

Backed by a phenomenal performance on the mound, the Canaries batters were just as prevalent. Sioux Falls first baseman David Bergin went 4-for-5 with a double, a homerun and an RBI in the series finale. Every Canaries batter picked up at least one hit in the evening matchup. Jerome Pena and RJ Perucki paced the Birds' offense by picking up three hits apiece, with Pena driving in three runs at the plate.

Winnipeg's starting pitcher Matthew Jackson (2-4, 6.53 ERA) tossed five innings on fourteen hits, followed by eight earned runs. Lefty Bo Logan threw the final three innings for Winnipeg and allowed three hits.

Sioux Falls has a much needed off day on Sunday before returning to the Birdcage on Monday evening as they face the Wichita Wingnuts (18-15) for a two game series with first pitch beginning at 7:05 PM.

RHP Stephen Bougher (2-0, 5.06 ERA) will face Wichita for the second time in one week. On Tuesday, Jeremy Strawn (2-4, 4.13 ERA) will get the nod as he looks for his third win in a Canaries uniform.

Monday night will feature Money Monday sponsored by Coca-Cola. Tickets will be only $1 in advance and $5 the day of the game. Fans can purchase bottled Coca-Cola products for just $2 all game long!
