The Akron RubberDucks defeated the Binghamton Mets, 3-0, on Saturday night at Canal Park behind seven scoreless innings by starter Adam Plutko.
Turning Point
Akron starter Adam Plutko dominated the game from the start, only allowing three hits and two baserunners to reach second base over his seven scoreless innings of work.
Mound Presence
RHP Adam Plutko (3-1) went seven scoreless innings, allowing just three hits, walking none and fanning five. He was relieved with a perfect inning of work by Josh Martin and Jeff Johnson picked up his 11th save in 11 chances with a scoreless ninth inning.
Duck Tales
The RubberDucks opened the scoring in the second inning when Jordan Smith's groundout scored Ronny Rodriguez who had tripled. Akron added its final two runs in the seventh when Tony Wolters drove in Bryson Myles on a triple and Erik Gonzalez's infield single scored Wolters. Gonzalez finished the night with three hits, including a double. Yandy Diaz and Wolters each had a pair of hits for Akron.
Notes
Plutko did not allow a run for the first time with Akron. He did not allow an earned run in his May 27 start vs. Trenton. He has not walked a hitter in four of his six starts. Ronny Rodriguez's second-inning triple gave him a five-game hitting strak (8-for-19, .421) and he is hitting .338 (24-for-71) in 19 games since coming off the D.L..
