Tate Olson Selected 210th Overall by the Vancouver Canucks

Prince George, B.C. - The Prince George Cougars are proud to announce that Tate Olson (Saskatoon, SK) has been selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the seventh round (210th overall) in the 2015 NHL Draft. Olson becomes the fourth Cougar selected in the 2015 draft and the second Cougar ever to be selected by the Vancouver Canucks.
"Tate Olson is a dynamic, two-way defenceman who really improved as the season went along," said Prince George Cougars General Manager, Todd Harkins. "He's going to be a very important part of our team over the next few seasons, and the professional experience that he gains with the Vancouver Canucks will be invaluable for his future development."
"Tate continues to improve in all facets of his game," adds Prince George Cougars Head Coach, Mark Holick. "He can do a lot of different things to help a team win games, and I fully expect him to continue developing into one of the most well-rounded defenceman in our league. The Vancouver Canucks got a real steal."
The 6'2", 174 pound Olson was selected by the Prince George Cougars in the second round (24th overall) of the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft. In 68 games with the Cougars this season, Olson recorded a new career high of 24 points (five goals, 19 assists) while adding 69 penalty minutes. He also chipped in with three goals in five playoff games. During his rookie season, Olson scored two goals, added eight assists and finished with an even plus-minus rating. That season he also represented Team West at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.
