Biloxi Shuckers News Release

JACKSONVILLE, FL - The Shuckers dropped the second-half opener against the Jacksonville Suns, 6-2, at Bragan Field on Thursday night. The loss dropped the Shuckers to 3-10 on Thursday's this season and puts them out of first place in the current standings for the first time since May 11 (45 days). The Shuckers fall to 0-1 in the second half.

Biloxi (0-1) claimed a 1-0 lead in the fourth after Tyrone Taylor (0x3, R, BB) led off the frame with a walk and advanced to second on a single by Orlando Arcia (2x4). Michael Reed (0x2, RBI) followed with a sacrifice fly to left field to bring in Taylor. Arcia collected Biloxi's lone multi-hit affair, which was his league-leading 24th of the season.

Brent Suter (4-3, 5 IP, 2 R, 8 H, BB, SO) carried a 16.1 scoreless-inning streak into Thursday's contest and took it into the fourth, but a leadoff double and a one-out triple snapped the streak at 19.2 innings, knotting the game at one apiece.

Jacksonville (1-0) took the lead in the fifth after Chadd Krist started the inning with a walk and made it to second on a sacrifice bunt by Matt Tomshaw. Kenny Wilson drove the runner home with a single to center to give the Suns a 2-1 advantage.

Trevor Seidenberger (0.2 IP, 3 R, 2 H, 2 BB, 2 SO) took over on the mound for the Shuckers to start the sixth inning, but allowed three runs and picked up only two outs before giving way to Martin Viramontes (1.1 IP, R, 2 H, 2 BB) with Biloxi in a 5-1 hole. Shuckers' pitching faced nine men, issued three walks and two hits with the big blow coming from Terrence Dayleg's three-run shot to left for his first home run of the season.

Josh Fellhauer (1x1, HR, RBI) extended his hitting streak to six games in the eighth inning with his first home run of the season to bring the Shuckers within four. Jacksonville starter Matt Tomshaw (3-4) collected the win, tossing seven innings on Thursday, giving up just one run on three hits. It was the Jacksonville native's first win in three chances (1-2) against the Shuckers this season.
