Philadelphia Union Provides Assistance to Storm Victims and Relief Workers

Chester, Pa. (June 25, 2015)- After the storm on Tuesday which caused great damage in Chester, the Philadelphia Union opened the doors of PPL Park to victims and storm relief workers on Thursday.
The Philadelphia Union and Spectra provided a warm meal, bathroom facilities and cell phone charging stations to more than 1,000 Chester residents and relief workers. Visitors enjoyed a free meal of grilled chicken, salad, sandwiches, pasta and cookies.
"We are deeply committed and dedicated to our city and local community. We feel it is our responsibility to be doing what we can to help our neighbors in the local community that were affected by the recent storm," Union CEO and Operating Partner Nick Sakiewicz said. "It is what good neighbors and members of the community do. We are grateful to our first responders and happy they are a part of this as well. They have worked tirelessly to provide aid to the local residents during this difficult time and we are proud to give them a good meal and some relief at PPL Park."
Philadelphia Union players Maruice Edu, Ray Gaddis, Zach Pfeffer and Andrew Wenger joined to lend a helping hand. The City of Chester and State Representative Thaddeus Kirkland helped spread the word and provided some transportation to the stadium, Wawa donated pallets of ice bags and Liscio's Bakery donated bread, rolls and pastries for the meals.
