Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release
GRAND CHUTE, WI - The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers will honor Milt Drier with a patch that will be worn for the remainder of the 2015 season. Drier, long-time member of the Appleton Professional Baseball board, passed away on Friday, June 12 while the team was on the road.
"Milt gave so much to this organization from the time we were known as the Appleton Foxes until his recent passing," said Timber Rattlers president Rob Zerjav. "He is one of the most influential people our organization has ever seen and even though he didn't seek the spotlight, we all agreed we wanted to honor Milt publicly for the rest of the season."
Drier was an active board member for Appleton Professional Baseball for over thirty years. He held all four executive board positions - Treasurer, Secretary, Vice President, and President - during his time with the organization. He last acted as the President of the Foxes in 1989.
There will be a moment of silence for Drier prior to the National Anthem before the game between the Timber Rattlers and Clinton LumberKings at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium on Thursday, June 25. This will be the first home game for the team since Drier's death. Game time is 7:05pm.
The patch to honor Drier will be on the left sleeve of white, home jerseys and the Brewers Sunday jerseys of the team. The patch is a simple MGD which represents Milton G. Drier.
A commemorative 8" by 8" brick for Drier will also be placed in the walkway leading into Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium. The brick has the Appleton Foxes logo on it and reads "Milt Drier A True Baseball Man".
A memorial service for Drier will be held in the Fox Communities Credit Union Fox Club on the second level of the stadium at 5:00pm after Sunday's game against the LumberKings.
