 Philadelphia Soul

Same Team, Different Role

June 25, 2015 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Philadelphia Soul News Release

PHILADELPHIA (June 25, 2015) - 2008 was a big year for Philadelphia sports. The Phillies took home the World Series championship and the Soul won the ArenaBowl. A big part of the Soul's 2008 Arena Bowl championship was current assistant head coach Phil Bogle. Since Bogle's time as a player with a Soul, he has stayed an important part of the organization.

Bogle joined the Soul in 2007 as a lineman after a few years of NFL experience with the San Diego Chargers, Cleveland Browns, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In his rookie year with the Soul, he won All-Rookie team and First-team All-Arena. Aside from helping bring the Arena Bowl championship to Philadelphia in 2008, he won First-Team All-Arena again and was a finalist for the League's Lineman of the Year award.

"We have a lot of tradition here and I don't think we could have a better ownership that cares about the players well-being and organization, they are all football guys from top to bottom," said Bogle. "There is a true family atmosphere that stems from the ownership."

Bogle joined the coaching staff in the 2011 season and is now assistant head coach and line coach to head coach Clint Dolezel. During his time as a coach, the Soul have been to the post season four times and won two Conference Championships. The team made it to the Arena Bowl in 2013 after he lead an offensive line that allowed the fewest sacks (7) in the AFL and had two First Team All-Arena selections.

"As a coach I always try to emphasize professionalism, being about your business first and everything else is secondary," said Bogle. "Trying to instill paying attention in meeting and to the small details is so important."

The advice and guidance from a former standout player is unmatched and something the entire Soul coaching staff brings to the team. He may have a different role since the last Arena Bowl championship, but Bogle knows how to bring a championship home and is motivated to do so this season.
