Sky Sox Rally Late in 7-6 Win

Oklahoma City - The Colorado Springs Sky Sox scored four runs with two outs in the top of the ninth inning in a 7-6 come-from-behind win against the Oklahoma City Dodgers Wednesday afternoon at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

The Dodgers (47-24) carried a 6-3 lead into the ninth inning before the Sky Sox rallied to even the series between the teams, 1-1.

With two outs and with runners at first and second, Colorado Springs' Nevin Ashley hit a grounder toward third base that hit off third baseman Andy Wilkins. Shortstop Corey Seager fielded the ball to his right and his throw to first went into the dugout, allowing Robinzon Diaz to score. Yadiel Rivera followed with a three-run homer to left center field to put Colorado Springs in front, 7-6.

The teams combined for five home runs in the game in front of a crowd of 6,851. The first four runs of the day came on homers.

Sky Sox first baseman Matt Clark hit a two-run homer into the upper deck in right field for a 2-0 Sky Sox lead in the first inning.

Seager answered in the bottom of the frame with a solo homer to right center for Oklahoma City, to cut the Sky Sox lead to, 2-1.

Kyle Jensen and Scott Schebler hit back-to-back singles to open the bottom of the second inning. Jensen later scored on a one-out RBI single by Brian Ward to cut Colorado Springs' lead to 3-2. Deck McGuire followed with a single to load the bases.

Sweeney's sac fly then tied the game, 3-3. Darwin Barney followed with a RBI single to give Oklahoma City its first lead of the game, 4-3.

In the fifth, Barney doubled to right field to lead off the bottom of the frame for the Dodgers. Seager followed with his second homer of the game - and sixth with Oklahoma City - to right center field to put Oklahoma City in front, 6-3. The Dodgers had the chance to extend their lead later in the inning, but Chris Heisey struck out with the bases loaded and with two outs.

Colorado Springs (29-41) went on to pick up its third win in the past four games.

Colorado Springs reliever Nick Additon (3-2) got the win for the Sky Sox and David Goforth picked up his first save of the season.

Dodgers reliever David Huff (3-1) took the loss, allowing four runs on four hits over 1.2 innings.

The Dodgers wrap up their three-game series against the Sky Sox at 7:05 p.m. tomorrow on a $2 Thursday. Fans can enjoy soft drinks, bottled water and select 16-ounce beers for just $2.
