Frisco RoughRiders News Release
FRISCO, TEXAS (June 23, 2015) - The Frisco RoughRiders used a five-run fourth inning to erase an early deficit and defeated the Midland RockHounds 6-4 on Tuesday night at Dr Pepper Ballpark. Nomar Mazara hit his ninth home run of the season and Dallas-native Preston Beck hit a go-ahead, two-run double to send Frisco to its third consecutive victory.
The Riders trailed 2-0 entering the fourth inning when Mazara led off with his seventh home run in June. With one out, Drew Robinson doubled, and Luis Mendez singled to put runners on the corners. Beck put the Riders ahead with his sixth double and later scored when Luis Marte knocked him home. Edwin Garcia singled to score Marte and Frisco led 5-2. The Riders used six hits to score five runs in the frame against Midland starter Chris Jensen (5-6).
Jake Thompson started for Frisco and lasted two innings, giving up two runs on three hits with two walks. Lendy Castillo and Cody Ege then combined to pitch five innings of one run ball.
After Midland plated a run in the fifth, Frisco responded in the bottom of the sixth when Jake Skole and Garcia singled to put men on the corners. A wild pitch scored Skole from third to give the Riders a 6-3 lead.
Midland scored another run in the eighth, but David Martinez closed out the ninth for his seventh save of the season to seal the Riders' 6-4 victory. Castillo (1-0) earned his first win as a RoughRider with 3.1 innings of relief while Jensen received his sixth loss of the season, giving up five runs on ten hits.
The RoughRiders return to action on Wednesday morning at Dr Pepper Ballpark after winning the first game of the second half of the season. Texas Rangers LHP Matt Harrison will take the mound for Frisco on a rehab assignment and will be countered by the RockHounds' RHP Nate Long (5-4) in the 11:05 a.m. contest. Josh Hamilton will also rehab with the Riders for the matinee affair. It will be another Wiener Wednesday, where hot dogs will be just $1 all game long.
