June 23, 2015 - Major League Lacrosse (MLL) News Release

BOSTON (June 23rd, 2015) - Major League Lacrosse, the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league completed Week 10 of its 2015 season this past weekend. All four match-ups took place on Saturday evening, and although only two of the games went into overtime periods, every game came down to a one-goal deficit. After this week, five teams in the standings have a 5-4 record, making the race for the four playoff spots that much more intersting.

Chesapeake travelled to Ohio to take to take on the Machine. In what was a hard-fought game, the Bayhawks' attackman Ben Rubeor netted the game winning goal just 23 seconds into overtime. The final score at Selby Stadium was 12-11. Tyler Fiorito, goalkeeper for the Bayhawks, was extremely busy during the first half, where it seemed as though Ohio was getting every possession and making all the right moves. The Machine began the second half up three goals, but the Bayhawks scored three straight goals in the third quarter to enter the fourth quarter tied at nine. Action was back and fourth, until Kyle Harrison, midfielder for the Machine, tied the game up and sent it to overtime. Tyler Fiorito had a spectacular game in goal, making 23 saves on the night and earning the praise of his coach, Dave Cottle, who said, "It was another amazing performance by Tyler, but it's what we have come to expect from him this season".

Despite the winning score, Florida dominated at the face-off position, winning 28 of 40 at the "X" in total. Lyle Thompson scored four points in his fourth MLL game. This game also tied the record for the most two-point goals scored in a game, with five. Outlaws attackman John Grant Jr. had a career night, netting seven goals and tying the Outlaws record for individual goals in a game. None more important or spectacular than his behind-the-back game-winning goal in overtime. The Bocklet brothers also set a record; Chris, Matt and Michael all scored a goal in the game making it the first time three brothers on the same MLL team have ever done so.
