Revs Falter In Lancaster On Fatherâ??s Day Afternoon

The York Revolution built an early lead but fell victim to the big inning for a second straight game as the Lancaster Barnstormers came from behind for a 9-4 victory over the Revs on Sunday afternoon at Clipper Magazine Stadium. The Revs will look to salvage a four-game split in the series finale on Monday evening.

Lancaster grabbed the game's first run in the bottom of the first as Yusuke Kajimoto crossed the plate on a wild pitch.

After squandering opportunities in the first two innings, the Revs cashed in as Brandon Boggs connected on a three-run homer to right field in the top of the third, giving York a 3-1 lead. It was Boggs' fourth home run of the season and just the second three-run homer hit by the Revs all year.

York extended the lead as Bryan Pounds drew a bases loaded walk from reliever Nate Reed in the top of the fourth to make it a 4-1 game, but Reed rebounded to strike out the next two batters, leaving the bases loaded. The Revs stranded seven runners through the first four innings and 11 total runners on the day.

After loading the bases with two outs in the bottom of the fourth, Lancaster scored five runs in stunningly quick fashion to take the lead for good. Jerry Owens lined a two-run single to center, with a third run scoring to tie the game when third baseman Nick Ferdinand was unable to receive the throw from center field, resulting in an error. Kajimoto followed with a line drive two-run homer that cleared the short porch in right, giving the Barnstormers a sudden 6-4 lead.

Lancaster tacked on runs in each of the following two innings, scoring eight unanswered in total. Bryant Nelson blooped an RBI double between two fielders in the fifth, and Brian Cavazos-Galvez ripped a two-run single to center in the sixth to complete the scoring.

One start after combining on a shutout, Revs starter Matt Neil (3-5) suffered the loss, charged with all nine runs including a season-high-tying seven earned runs over 5.1 innings.

Reliever Edward Paredes was solid out of the York bullpen, tossing 2.2 scoreless innings. The lefty has totaled 8.1 scoreless innings over his last six appearances.

Reed (1-3) earned the win for Lancaster with 2.1 scoreless in relief, striking out five consecutive hitters at one point including all three batters looking in the fifth.

York piled up nine hits over the first four innings, but only two the rest of the game.

Lancaster sported a 15-hit attack, the most against the Revs since allowing 18 hits vs. Somerset on May 23.

The Revs struck out 14 times in the game, tying a club record for a nine-inning game for the third time.

Notes: Ferdinand extended his hitting streak to eight games with a first inning single. Eric Patterson returned to the lineup for the first time since June 1, going 1-for-3 with a pair of walks and a run scored. It marked just the third time in the last 25 games that a York starter has allowed more than three earned runs. Neil had allowed three earned runs or fewer in each of his previous four starts. York falls to 8-6 vs. Lancaster on the season.
