Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release

BELOIT, WI - The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers defeated the Beloit Snappers 4-2 in game one of a doubleheader Sunday afternoon at Pohlman Field. Angel Ventura allowed one run over five innings to pick up the win.

Wisconsin (23-46) got on the scoreboard first. Brandon Diaz was at first with one out in the top of the third inning. Tucker Neuhaus hit a grounder that looked to be a double play, but the ball was misplayed for an error and Diaz wound up on third base. Francisco Castillo drove in Diaz with a double for a 1-0 lead. Elvis Rubio followed with an RBI grounder and Wisconsin was up 2-0.

Justin Higley got the Snappers (25-44) on the board of the bottom of the third inning as the leadoff hitter. The Beloit right fielder pulled a 3-2 pitch from Ventura over the wall in right for his second home run of the season

Wisconsin got that run back in the top of the fourth inning. Diaz drew a bases loaded walk to force in a run and the Rattlers were up 3-1.

Elvis Rubio doubled to start the Wisconsin fifth inning and he moved to third on a ground out by Dustin DeMuth. Jose Pena knocked in Rubio with a sacrifice fly and the Rattlers extended their lead to 4-1.

Ventura allowed two hits with four strikeouts over five innings before turning the game over to Luis Ortega.

Ortega retired the Snappers in order in the sixth. The seventh was a different story.

The Snappers loaded the bases with one out on a pair of hits and a walk. Higley drove in a run with a fielder's choice to pull Beloit to within a run. Ortega got out of the inning by getting Andy Paz to flyout to right.

The loss was the eighth in a row for the Snappers.
