Tacoma Rainiers News Release
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Three runs from the Isotopes in the bottom of the eighth inning pushed Albuquerque to a 5-3 victory over the Tacoma Rainiers on Saturday night at Isotopes Park.
Tacoma jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning off and RBI double from Franklin Gutierrez and an RBI single from Stefen Romero.
Patrick Kivlehan's two-out double and a Carlos Rivero RBI single in the fourth inning gave the Rainiers their third and final run of the day. It was just the fourth time this month Tacoma failed to score four or more runs.
Kyle Parker cut the Rainiers lead to one run in the sixth inning with a two-run home run over the right field wall, and a Matt McBride two-run shot in the eighth gave the Isotopes a 4-3 lead. Drew Stubbs followed McBride's home run with a triple and came around to score an insurance run on Dustin Garneau's RBI single to give Albuquerque the 5-3 lead.
Rainiers starting pitcher Jordan Pries tossed 4.0 scoreless innings in his first appearance since May 5 - he allowed just one hit while issuing two walks and striking out three.
Chris Taylor, Gutierrez, and Rivero all recorded multiple hits for the Rainiers. Taylor extended his hitting streak to nine games, and has raised his batting average from .270 to .299 since the streak began on June 12.
David Rollins worked 1.0 scoreless inning in relief before giving way to Tyler Olson, who allowed five runs on six hits in 3.0 innings - Olson was tagged with a blown save and his second loss of the season.
The Rainiers and Isotopes cap off their four-game series tomorrow, June 20. Right-hander Stephen Landazuri (0-3, 8.42) gets the call for Tacoma, while righty Jon Gray (3-5, 4.62) takes the mound of Albuquerque. First pitch is scheduled for 5:05 p.m.
