Altoona Curve News Release

CURVE, Pa. - The Altoona Curve rallied twice on Friday night against the Harrisburg Senators to take a see-saw series opener, 4-3, at Peoples Natural Gas Field. The Curve plated the walk-off run in the tenth inning when Adam Frazier was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

The Curve (39-26) won the first of the five-game set against the Senators (28-38) while totaling 15 hits in their third extra-inning game in the last eight days.

After a go-ahead single by Shawn Pleffner gave the Senators a 3-2 lead in the top of the tenth against Curve reliever Jeff Inman (Win, 2-0), Jose Osuna singled in the tying run in the bottom of the inning.

Senators reliever Sammy Solis (Loss, 0-2) then walked Sebastian Valle and hit Gift Ngoepe with a pitch to load the bases for Frazier's walk-off hit-by-pitch.

The Curve fell behind 2-0 in the first inning. Drew Vettleson's sacrifice fly scored Trea Turner to plate the first run and Pleffner singled home Matt Skole to pad the early Harrisburg lead.

After a double by Josh Bell in the fourth inning, Stetson Allie tied the game with his 10th homerun of the season to even the score at two apiece.

After giving up the two runs in the first, Curve starter Matt Benedict settled in to go seven innings, allowing two runs (one earned). Josh Smith pitched two scoreless innings to relieve Benedict. Combined, Altoona and Harrisburg left 39 runners on base.

Max Moroff went 2-for-4 with a walk to extend his most recent hitting streak to 10 games. Allie and Osuna each had three hits on the night.

The Curve and Senators will play a double-header on Saturday. Right-hander Steven Brault will make his Double-A debut with a start in the first game. Altoona has not announced a game two starter. Right-hander Dakota Bacus (2-1, 4.34) will take the hill for Harrisburg in game one, while righty James Simmons (3-3, 3.42) will start in the second game.

The Pirate Parrot will stop by for his annual visit to PNG Field. It's also a Ritchie's Dairy Kids Club Game and members get in free with their membership cards. A fireworks show will follow the doubleheader.

Airtime on ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and the Curve Radio Network is scheduled for 4:15 p.m. with first pitch for game one scheduled for 4:30. For tickets and more information, visit AltoonaCurve.com, call 877.99.CURVE or stop by the PNG Field box office.
