Seven Is Heaven for 67's on Friday Nights

OTTAWA - Fans of the Ottawa 67's will see changes when the team begins the 2015-16 Ontario Hockey League season this fall.

On Fridays, the traditional start time has been moved ahead by 30 minutes to 7 p.m., a handful of Saturday games will be played at TD Place and Sunday start times have been adjusted to 3 p.m.

"We've made the alterations, keeping in mind the schedules of today's busy families," said Jeff Hunt, the 67's Governor and President of Sports with the team's parent company, Ottawa Sports & Entertainment Group.

"We heard from our fans about wanting to attend games on Saturdays. We listened and were able to work some games on Saturdays into the schedule.

"As for Sundays, we think the 3 o'clock start will provide some extra time for dads and moms to get their kids from the minor hockey rinks and other activities to our games later in the afternoon," said Hunt.

"As for Fridays, fans urged us to move games ahead to 7 o'clock so parents with younger kids could get home earlier to get the kids in bed before busy Saturday mornings. We listened and were able to make those changes"

There are also a few Wednesday evening home games on the schedule which helps reduce the number of 3-in-3 weekends the team typically has to play. "It's a significant departure from our traditional schedule but one that I think will benefit the players, particularly as we get close to playoff time," said Hunt.

The regular season opens for the 67's on the road in Peterborough on Thursday, September 24 against the Petes.

Following another road game in Barrie against the Colts on Friday, September 25 in Mississauga, the 67's will play the team's home opener on Sunday, September 27 at 3 p.m. against the Barrie Colts. The team's full schedule can be viewed at www.Ottawa67s.com.

The 67's are building on the momentum of the 2014-15 season in which the team qualified for the playoffs for the first time in three seasons.

"We're all keyed up and looking forward to another great season of 67's hockey," said coach and general manager Jeff Brown. "We're expecting the utmost commitment from our players as we work toward re-establishing excellence within our organization."
