El Paso Chihuahuas News Release

The El Paso Chihuahuas won the first game in the Jamie Quirk managerial era on Wednesday, beating the Albuquerque Isotopes, 8-4. After being held to seven combined hits in the first two games of the series, the Chihuahuas' offense came to life with 11 hits on Wednesday.

Ramiro Pena hit a solo home run onto the right field lawn seating to give El Paso a 1-0 advantage in the first inning. Albuquerque tied it with a homer of its own when Dustin Garneau went deep in the bottom of the second.

The Chihuahuas had three different leads in the game, as Albuquerque came back multiple times early, but a three-run sixth inning kept El Paso ahead to stay. Pena went 3-for-5 and fell a triple shy of a cycle. Abraham Almonte and Rymer Liriano had two hits each in the win.

Jason Lane was the winning pitcher Wednesday, allowing four runs in six innings in his first start since coming off the disabled list.
