Birmingham Barons News Release
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Barons (31-34) downed the Generals (27-37) by a seven-run advantage Wednesday night in Jackson, Tenn., at Pringles Park. Birmingham used 16 hits while the pitching staff limited Jackson to just five hits and one run.
Birmingham starter Myles Jaye (5-3, 3.23 ERA) came away with his team-leading fifth win, while Jackson's James Gillheeny (3-2, 3.27 ERA) was charged with the loss. Five Barons recorded multiple hits, with third baseman Jeremy Farrell leading the way with a 4-for-5 night at the plate. Tim Anderson, Joey DeMichele, Christian Marrero and Adrian Nieto collected two hits each.
The game's first runs came in the third as the Barons drew first blood. Birmingham took a 3-0 lead with Anderson doubling home two and DeMichele singling home the third.
A two-spot in the fourth put Birmingham up 5-0 as Anderson hit his second two-run double of the evening. Insurance runs came in the seventh and ninth innings. Marrero hit his 10th double of the year to plate a run before the stretch, and Chris Curley and Brian Fletcher each doubled in the ninth to score the final two runs of the contest.
Jackson's lone run came in the fifth inning as Ian Miller reached on a fielding error by Anderson. Jabari Bash scored from second on the play.
Anderson finished the night with three RBI. DeMichele batted in two, and both Fletcher and Curley accounted for the remaining two runs.

The two teams are back in action Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. White Sox No. 6 prospect Tyler Danish (4-3, 3.70 ERA) faces off against Edwin Diaz (1-4, 5.57 ERA) in the second game of the five-game set in Jackson. Diaz is regarded as the No. 6 prospect in the Seattle Mariners organization.
