Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release

LAKEWOOD, NJ - Delmarva used a four-run fourth inning to come back and top the BlueClaws 5-4 on Wednesday night at FirstEnergy Park.

The Shorebirds have now taken the first three games of the four-game series and they've won four straight to improve to 32-33 on the year. The BlueClaws have dropped four straight games to fall back to 32-32.

The BlueClaws took a 3-0 lead in the 4th inning, scoring on a Damek Tomscha RBI single and a two-run double by Jiandido Tromp.

The lead, however, was short-lived, as the Shorebirds scored four times in the fifth inning off Ranfi Casimiro. They got on the board when Phildrick Llewellyn scored on a wild pitch. After two walks loaded the bases, Conor Bierfeldt lined a two-run single to left to tie the game at 3. After Ranfi Casimiro came out of the game, Cam Kneeland singled off of Manaure Martinez to put Delmarva up 4-3.

Delmarva added a run in the sixth inning on a hit batsman to Steve Wilkerson with the bases loaded. The BlueClaws got that back in the bottom of the sixth on a wild pitch to score Rhys Hoskins.

The BlueClaws, against Nigel Nootbar, loaded the bases in the ninth inning, but Garret Cortright got Jiandido Tromp to pop up to second base to end the inning. Cortright then threw a 1-2-3 ninth inning to earn his fourth save.

Casimiro (2-5) took the loss after allowing four runs in4.1 innings. Matthew Grimes (5-4) gave up four runs over six innings to earn the win.

Rhys Hoskins and Herlis Rodriguez had two hits for the BlueClaws while Malquin Canelo went 0-5 and his hitting streak was snapped at nine.

The series concludes on Thursday night at 7:05. RHP Chris Oliver (3-4) starts for the BlueClaws against RHP Josh Walker (1-1).
