Falcons Falter Rogues' Streak

MEDFORD, OR - The Rogues' five game winning streak came to a halt Friday night in Kelowna against the Falcons.
Both teams got on the board early in the first inning and were tied 1-1 until the fourth, when the Falcons scored off an RBI double. Kelowna led until the sixth inning when both teams scored four more runs. Dan Mayer, Nathan Etheridge and Jared Holley all were on base when Stefan Panayiotou hit a bases clearing double to right center field making the score 5-6, still in favor of Kelowna.
In the top of the eighth inning, Jared Holley was able to score his second run of the game to tie things up at 6, then in the top of the ninth, Jon Kinne scored his second run of the day after reaching base on a lead off single.
The Rogues were on top going into the bottom of the ninth, 7-6 but Kelowna had an answer of their own. Jalen Fuhriman was on the mound for the ninth and struck out Andre Jackson, the lead off batter for the Falcons, but then the next two Kelowna batters reached base. Fuhriman struck out Hunter Villanueva to make it two outs but then Justin Flores sent a ball to deep left center field where Medford outfielders Dan Mayer and Brock Pradere lost the ball in the lights, allowing the two runs to cross. Kelowna beats Medford with the walk off single, 7-8.
Jackson Bertsch, the starting pitcher for the Rogues went 5 ? innings, giving up five runs on seven hits, striking out two, and walking two. Jamie Flynn and Fuhriman both came in relief giving up a combined three runs off of two hits and four strikeouts. Fuhriman was given the loss and Curtis Taylor of Kelowna was given the win.
The Rogues and Falcons meet again Saturday at 6:35pm then again Sunday at the same time in Kelowna. The Rogues then head to Wenatchee then Kitsap before their next home game in Medford versus Top Speed Academy on June 22. All games can be heard on ESPN 580.
