Lyman Named FSL Player of the Month

JUPITER, Fla. - Minor League Baseball today announced the Player of the Month Award winners for each of the 10 full season leagues for the month of May. Starting pitcher Scott Lyman was named the Florida State League Player of the Month to add to his recognition as the Miami Marlins Minor League Pitcher of the Month. Lyman will receive an award from Minor League Baseball in recognition of the honor.
Right-hander Scott Lyman went 4-0 with a 0.95 ERA in six starts to capture Florida State League Player of the Month honors. Lyman, 25, held opponents to a .169 batting average as he allowed only 22 hits over 38 innings. The Alamo, California native currently ranks 2nd in wins (7), 2nd in ERA (1.61) and 3rd in opponent average (.192) in the Florida State League. Lyman was selected by the Miami Marlins in the 10th round of the 2011 draft out of the University of California-Davis. With his nomination as a 2015 FSL All-Star, Lyman has now been named a FSL All-Star for two consecutive years.
After a great month of May and solid start to 2015, Lyman has also been awarded a promotion to the Double-A Jacksonville Suns. Lyman will join the fifth best pitching staff in the Southern League that has a team ERA of 3.65 and record of 26-32. The right-hander has made one previous start with Jacksonville in 2014.
The Jupiter Hammerheads will return to Roger Dean Stadium on June 12 when they play host to the Charlotte Stone Crabs.
