BARTLETT, Tenn. -- Mississippi RiverKings Broadcaster Lukas Favale visited Grace Presbyterian Church Childcare in Bartlett Tuesday morning to teach the children the basics of hockey, as part of the RiverKings "Sticks are for Kids" program.

Favale taught kids how to properly hold a hockey stick, how to pass and shoot, and the basic rules and regulations in hockey.

"I wanted to expose the children to hockey as well as have them learn about hockey and the equipment used to play the sport," Childcare Director Paige Hassel said. "We look forward to seeing the RiverKings again."

After the demonstration, the kids were split up into groups by age and had a chance to play a game. For many of the kids it was the first time playing hockey.

"The kids absolutely loved it," said Hassel. "Some of the things the children said were, 'it was cool, I want to play hockey, and when are they coming back it was fun.'"

If you would like the RiverKings to appear at your school or camp, contact Lukas Favale via email at lukas@riverkings.com or by calling 662-342-1755.
