June 5, 2015 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Houston Dynamo FC News Release

Will Bruin scored two goals and Boniek García provided a big lift as the Houston Dynamo tallied four second-half goals for a 4-2 win over the New York Red Bulls before a sellout crowd at BBVA Compass Stadium on Friday night.

Houston have next weekend off from MLS play before hosting the Austin Aztex (USL) in the fourth round of the U.S. Open Cup at 7:30 p.m. CT on Wednesday, June 17 at BBVA Compass Stadium. The Dynamo return to MLS action June 20 at Portland.

Will Bruin recorded his second multi-goal effort in four games and has now tallied six goals in five games, the best stretch of his five-year MLS career.

After not scoring in his first six appearances this season, Bruin has seven goals in his last eight games to rise to a tie for third with Clint Dempsey in the MLS Golden Boot race.

Trailing 1-0 after Mike Grella delivered New York a 1-0 lead late in the first half, halftime substitute García leveled the score in the 59th minute, collecting a pass from Bruin on the right edge of the box and driving a low shot from 15 yards that deflected high over goalkeeper Luis Robles and into the net for his second goal of the season.

Later, minutes after an apparent goal from Ricardo Clark was ruled out for a foul, the Dynamo veteran converted from another Garcia corner kick, finding space at the back post to slash home from five yards for a 2-1 lead. It was Clark's third goal of the season.

Bruin continued Houston's second half surge eight minutes later, collecting a pass from García and smashing a shot from the top of the penalty area that deflected off a New York defender and past Robles for a two-goal lead.

Red Bull substitute Anatole Abang cut the deficit to 3-2 in the 90th minute with his first MLS goal, but Bruin restored the margin in stoppage time. Clark hustled to collect a heavy touch from Sacha Kljestan and slid a short pass to Bruin, who calmy drove into the box for a left-foot finish from 12 yards and his second goal of the night.
