WASHINGTON, PA Reggie Lawson crushed a three-run homer and Ian MacDougall was dominant on the mound to lead the Traverse City Beach Bums to a 7-0 win at the Washington Wild Things 7-0 Friday night.

MacDougall fired 8.1 innings of scoreless baseball and came within a sliver of picking up the complete game. He handed the ball to Andrew Brockett who completed the team's third shutout of the season by striking out the last two batters. Washington had a runner reach second base only twice in the game and were limited to seven scattered singles.

The Beach Bums scored all the runs they needed in the first inning. Yazy Arbelo put the Beach Bums up 1-0 with a sacrifice fly that plated Alex Tomasovich. Later in the inning, Reggie Lawson destroyed a Matt Sergey curveball over the left field fence for a three-run homer and the Beach Bums led 4-0.

Traverse City added two more in the second inning. Sam Bumpers scored from third base on the back end of a double steal with Jay Austin who took second. Austin later scored on a throwing error by Washington and the Beach Bums were up 6-0.

Tomasovich picked up a RBI with a fielder's choice in the seventh to make the score 7-0.

Bumpers collected an individual best three hits, including two doubles. Tomasovich and Vargas each extended their own hitting streaks to four games.

One night after committing three errors in the field, the Beach Bums were flawless.

Sergey took the loss for Washington but saved the Wild Things' bullpen. Despite being roughed up early, he lasted 6.1 innings.

Traverse City's record improves to 10-8 with the middle game of the weekend series in Washington set for Saturday ay 7:05pm.

The Wuerfel Park offices are open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. The Beach Bums will play 51 games at Wuerfel Park in 2015. In addition, there is a Farmers & Flea Market Saturdays June 13th-October 10th. Along with live concerts following most Saturday home games. Season ticket packages are still available!
