Danny Waltman Signs with Tacoma Stars

KANSAS CITY, MO (June 4, 2015) - The Tacoma Stars announced today the signing of longtime Missouri Comets goalkeeper Danny Waltman to a contract for the 2015/16 season after spending the last five years in Kansas City.

"Words can't express how much love I have for the Comets, the Comets fans and the Comets organization," Waltman stated. "This was a very hard decision for me, but I feel that it's time to be near my family. From the bottom of my heart I thank you all for the love and support you have given me and my family."

Waltman, 33, was born and raised in Gig Harbor, Washington and his father was a member of the group that owned the Tacoma Stars during its legendary seasons playing at the Tacoma Dome in the 1980s and 1990s.

"I will miss you all so much and no matter where I go, I will always be a Comet because Comets till I die." Waltman added.

Last year, the University of Washington product helped the Comets to a perfect 20-0 regular season and led the Major Arena Soccer League to become the first ever goalkeeper to record 17 wins in a single season.

Waltman also played an important role during the 2013/14 Major Indoor Soccer League season. His three hundred (249 regular season and 51 playoffs) saves were crucial for the Comets to win their first championship that year.

Waltman's professional indoor soccer career began in 2004 when the Chicago Storm of the MISL signed him. After three seasons with Chicago, he logged time with the Detroit Ignition (2006-09) and Rockford Rampage (2009-10) before signing with Missouri in 2010.

"The Comets want to wish Danny nothing but the absolute best as he heads home to play for the team he grew up cheering for, the Tacoma Stars," said Team President Brian Budzinski. "Danny was the very first player to sign with the Comets when the team returned to action in 2010, and has been a fan favorite ever since. He is first class guy, and words cannot even begin to describe how much he will be missed by his fans and friends here in Kansas City."
