Windsor Spitfires News Release
(Windsor, ON) - General Manager Warren Rychel is pleased to announce Brian Teakle has been named the club's head scout.
Teakle replaces Wayne Smith, who served one year in the position, and is now actively pursuing other opportunities at the pro hockey level.
"We're very happy to have Teaks take over this role," Rychel said. "He has been a valuable member of our scouting staff for the last nine years. I have no doubt he'll do a great job. He's got great communcations skills and has established a lot of very good hockey relationships. He's a true professional and a guy who is very well-respected in hockey circles."
Teakle adds the title of head scout to his existing role as director of player personnel.
In addition, the club is set to welcome back Bill Brown as a member of Teakle's scouting staff. Brown, who lives in Listowel, Ontario, served five years as a Spitfire scout, before leaving to pursue other opportunities.
Rychel says Brown will cover all territories across the province.
"Bill was a big part of our two Memorial Cup teams," Rychel said. "We're glad to have him back. He was a key contributor to our first few drafts when we bought the club. His wealth of experience is only going to help us in our overall scouting efforts."
