Giants Begin Four-Game Series At Inland Empire Tonight The San Jose Giants continue their road trip this evening with the opener of a four-game series against the Inland Empire 66ers at San Manuel Stadium. The Giants are 3-0 against Inland Empire this season having swept the 66ers at Municipal Stadium from April 20-22.

Lost Two Of Three In High Desert The Giants dropped two out of three games to the host High Desert Mavericks in their most recent series. San Jose earned a 10-5 win over High Desert on Wednesday - their season-high eighth consecutive victory overall. The Mavericks though bounced back with consecutive wins of 12-2 and 10-5 on Thursday and Friday respectively to take the series. The Giants allowed 22 runs and 32 hits over the final two games of the series. During their eight-game winning streak (May 19-27), San Jose surrendered a total of just 18 runs (2.47 team ERA).

Road Struggles The Giants own a league-worst 7-17 road record and have yet to win a series away from Municipal Stadium this season. San Jose hasn't won back-to-back road games since the opening weekend of the season (April 10-11 at Lancaster). The Giants are batting just .246 as a team to go with a 4.87 ERA on the road (.286 AVG, 2.77 ERA at home).

Offensive Surge Over the last seven games (5-2 record), the Giants are batting .336 as a team and averaging 6.6 runs per contest. San Jose scored a season-high 11 runs last Saturday in an 11-0 win over Rancho Cucamonga. Wednesday's 10-5 victory over the Mavericks was the Giants' largest run output in a road game this year.

Beede Starts Series Opener Tyler Beede is slated to make the start on the mound for the Giants in tonight's series opener. Beede currently ranks sixth in the California League in ERA (2.58) and second among qualifying starting pitchers in fewest walks per nine innings (1.59). In his last start (May 23 vs. Rancho Cucamonga), Beede tossed six scoreless innings to pick-up the win. Beede has allowed one or no earned runs in five out of his eight starts this season.

Improving Record Since falling to 8-20 (.286) after a loss on May 7, the Giants have posted a 12-8 (.600) record.

Cole Ranks Fourth In Hitting Hunter Cole currently ranks fourth in the California League with a .336 batting average. Cole is batting at a .386 clip (22-for-57) over his last 15 games. He has eight multi-hit games during the stretch. Additionally, Cole has hit three home runs in his last five games after not having homered for the entire season. Cole joined the Giants on April 22 after beginning the year with Class-A Augusta.

Versus The South The Giants are 10-8 (.556) against South Division teams this season and only 10-20 (.333) versus the North. San Jose is currently in the midst of playing 15 consecutive games against South Division opponents (May 22-June 7).

Horan Returns Outfielder Tyler Horan was activated from the disabled list prior to Wednesday's road trip opener. In three games since his return, Horan is 4-for-13 (.308) with four singles and an RBI. Horan was on the DL from April 30-May 26. Horan's 25 homers last year between Augusta (A) and San Jose ranked second in the Giants farm system.

Holding Leads San Jose is the only team in the league that has not lost a game when leading after seven innings this season (15-0). Closer Dan Slania is first in the league with 10 saves. The Giants' bullpen ERA this year is 3.22.

Jones' Hitting Streak At Eight Games Third baseman Ryder Jones brings an eight-game hitting streak into tonight's action. Jones is batting .355 (11-for-31) with a home run during the streak. He hit his team-leading fourth home run of the season on Thursday. Jones had a 10-game hitting streak earlier this season (April 12-22).

In Search Of Winning Month The Giants need victories tonight and tomorrow to secure a winning record this month. San Jose is 13-14 in May. The Giants finished April with a 7-14 record.

Opponent Notes: Inland Empire 66ers The Inland Empire 66ers, an affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, are in fourth place in the South Division with a 22-24 record - 4 1/2 games out of first. Inland Empire has lost their last five games. The 66ers are sixth in the league in batting average (.264), eighth in runs scored (4.7 per game) and seventh in ERA (4.41). Inland Empire is 15-12 at home this season (7-12 on the road).
