Denver Outlaws News Release

DENVER -The Denver Outlaws fell 18-12 to the Ohio Machine's high powered attack in their first loss at Sports Authority Field at Mile High since July 4, 2014.

Anthony Kelly ambitiously set the tone for the game winning the first face off of the night and Denver kicked off the scoring with the first goal coming off the stick of Drew Snider with an assist by Jeremy Sieverts just 48 seconds into the game. Machine attackman, Marcus Holman answered quickly with back to back goals to advance the score 2-1 with 11:26 left in the first period. Just a minute later Mike Bocklet tied the score at 2 with help from Sieverts.

Ohio replied with three unanswered points beginning with Jimmy Bitters scoring his first MLL career goal to give the Machine a 3-2 lead. Shortly after, Holman put another in the net for a hat trick to give the opponent a 2-point lead, followed up with a goal by Jake Bernhardt, which was challenged and quickly reversed due to a crease violation.

Bocklet fired off his second goal of the game with laser speed into the Machine's net with 1:46 left in the first quarter leaving the Outlaws trailing by a score of 4-3.

Steele Stanwick, attackman for the Machine, began the second half with a goal just 60 seconds into the period, with the Outlaws John Grant Jr. responding quickly with his first goal of the night, narrowing the margin by one goal. Approximately one minute later Snider, with his second goal of the night, tied the game at 5.

Bocklet followed up quickly with a hat trick on a man-up goal assisted by Sieverts and one minute later scored his fourth goal, tying his career high in a game.

The Machine responded with a goal from Kevin Cooper to the tie the game at 7 and with just nine seconds remaining on the clock. A second brother, Chris Bocklet, puts one in the net with an assist from Grant Jr. to end the half with an 8-7 Outlaws lead.

The third quarter was a sluggish one for the Outlaws only scoring one goal in the third quarter for the third time this season. Ohio's Kyle Harrison came out of the gates quickly, firing one past Schwartzman to tie the game for the fifth time of the evening at 8-8. The Machine's Jake Bernhardt scored again quickly to take the lead by one. A third unanswered point by Harrison with 6:58 left in play of the third period put the Machine up 10-8. With just seconds on the clock, Outlaws midfielder Greg Downing gets his first goal of the evening with an assist by Grant Jr. John Grant Jr. carried his momentum into the fourth period with a quick goal, just forty seconds into the final frame, from behind his legs.

Holman followed up with his fifth goal of the night unassisted by Schreiber widening the gap by 3 points and then another by Cooper put the Ohio up 11-8. Ohio followed up with two more unanswered.

With 9:42 left in the fourth new Outlaw Wes Berg scores his first MLL career goal cutting the score to 14-11.

Ohio responds with three unanswered until Snider interrupted their streak with a hat trick for the evening.

Bitter answers with his first career hat trick with an assist from Schreiber, who fell one assist short of the MLL record of eight assists in a single game.

Despite the first home loss since last season, acknowledgement should be given to Mike Bocklet for his impressive performance tying his career high of four goals in a game.

Next week the Outlaws will hit the road to take on the Chesapeake Bayhawks at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium on Saturday, June 6, with a faceoff time of 5 p.m. MDT.
