Salt Lake Bees News Release

Kyle Kubitza belted a two run homer in the 12th inning to give the Salt Lake Bees a 5-3 win over the Memphis Redbirds on Friday night. Daniel Robertson led off the 12th with a single to left and one out later, Kubitza deposited a 1-1 pitch over the right field wall to put Salt Lake in front. Steven Hensley worked a scoreless inning to earn his first career Triple-A save. Memphis had a chance to win the game in the bottom of the tenth inning on a single to left by Rafael Ortega, but Robertson threw out Jacob Wilson at the plate, as he tried to score from second base.

The Bees had taken a 3-2 lead in the 8th on a two run double by Jett Bandy, but the Redbirds tied it in the bottom of the ninth. With two out and Ortega at first base, Salt Lake pitcher Jeremy McBryde struck out Stephen Piscotty, but the third strike got away from catcher Bandy allowing Piscotty to reach with Ortega advancing to third. Mike O'Neill followed with a perfect bunt up the third base line to bring home Ortega with the tying run.

Frank Herrmann (3-0) pitched a scoreless 11th inning to earn the victory. Efren Navarro led the Bees with four hits, including a double, while C.J. Cron added a pair of doubles with one RBI. Robertson and Roger Kieschnick each singled to extend their respective hitting streaks to ten games.
