Peoria, IL- Luis Perdomo dominated the Kane County Cougars lineup as the Peoria Chiefs won the first game of the series 5-0 Friday night. The win moves the Chiefs to 25-24 with three games remaining in the home stand.

The Chiefs jumped on the Cougars early in the third against starter Brad Keller. Andrew Sohn singled and stole second, Darren Seferina walked and Oscar Mercado reached on an error to load the bases. Danny Diekroeger plated Sohn and Seferina on a two-run single and Mercado scored on a double-play ball grounded into by Nick Thompson to make it 3-0.

Perdomo retired the first eight Cougars he faced with five strikeouts. Kane County left a runner at second base in the third and fifth and got their only runner of the game past second in the sixth. Perdomo struck out Marty Herum to strand Victor Reyes at third base. He did not allow a hit over his final two innings, and fell one strikeout short of his career-high with nine. With the eight shutout innings, Perdomo lowered his ERA to 1.48, best among all Chiefs starters this season.

The Chiefs added two insurance runs in the eighth inning with a two-out rally. Diekroeger singled and moved to second on a balk, Thompson walked, and Vaughn Bryan singled home Diekroeger. Alex DeLeon reached on a fielder's choice to load the bases and Magneuris Sierra walked to make it 5-0.

Perdomo (2-4) notched the win for the Chiefs, pitching eight innings and allowing no runs on three hits and three walks, striking out nine. Jhonny Polanco pitched a scoreless inning allowing only a walk and striking out one.
