Toronto, Ontario- The NBL Canada Board of Directors in a unanimous vote, hired Brampton A's GM/Head Coach David Magley, as the league's new Commissioner.

In hiring Magley, the league brings on a unique individual who has a varied back ground that should fit the needs of the league nicely.

Born and raised in South Bend, IN, Magley was the 1978 Indiana Mr. Basketball. He went on to an All Conference career at the University of Kansas. As a Sr at KU he earned 1st TEAM Academic All American Status and became the 28th pick of the 1982 draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA.

After playing 4 years of professional basketball including a stint under Phil Jackson in the CBA and a couple of years of international ball in Europe, Magley retired and moved into business.

As a businessman, he became known as a "turn around specialist" who through sales, would help grow businesses and change their valuations. He has worked with all sizes of organizations , from tiny companies of 16 employees to large ones as big as the 25,000 employees of the Royal Bank of Scotland.

He was an integral part of the managing team of the A's and was involved in many day to day aspects off the court including sponsorship sales. "I believe so much in this league that I have offered up one of my biggest assets", A's owner James Tipping, recently said. "I believe what he offers as a person, his basketball knowledge, his knowledge of our league and his previous business background, make him a perfect choice to solidify this league".

Magley will begin immediately and is in the process of scheduling a whirlwind tour of the entire league and Town Hall type meetings in each market open to the press and the fans of each team. The intent is to fully understand the areas and opportunities for growth for the year to come.

The league has also voted to move the corporate offices to London, ON. London is central to the ON region teams and it will put the Commissioner and league President Vito Frijia in the same area.
