RubberDucks Split with Trenton

Game 1: The RubberDucks and Thunder resumed Wednesday's suspended game in the bottom of the third inning with Trenton leading 1-0. The Thunder moved out to a 3-1 lead after five innings before Akron tied it 3-3 in the sixth, highlighted by back-to-back RBI doubles by Jeremy Lucas and Jake Lowery, to force extra innings, where Trenton won it with an eighth-inning run.

Game 2: Akron jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning and held that lead until the fifth inning when Trenton tied it at 2-2. The RubberDucks rallied in the bottom of the fifth with a pair of runs coming on Destin Hood's run-scoring triple that was followed by Anthony Gallas' run-scoring double to take 4-2 lead.

Turning Point

Game 1: Trenton's Dante Bichette Jr.'s 8th-inning sacrifice fly snapped a 3-3 tie to give the Thunder a 4-3 win.

Game 2: Akron's broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the fifth on consecutive run-scoring extra-base hits-a triple by Destin Hood and a double by Anthony Gallas.

Mound Presence

Game 1: RHP Adam Plutko made his Double-A debut for Akron and did not allow an earned run over three innings of work before the rain suspension on Wednesday. Josh Martin began the resumption today and allowed two runs, one earned, in two innings before Trey Haley came on to fire two scoreless, hitless innings with five strikeouts. Louis Head (0-2) entered with a tie game in the eighth inning and got the loss after allowing a run on a pair of hits.

Game 2: LHP Shawn Morimando (4-4) picked up the win after allowing two runs in six innings. He turned it over to Jeff Johnson, who picked up his sixth save with a scoreless seventh inning. Johnson lowered his ERA to 0.47

Duck Tales

Game 1: OF Bryson Myles had a pair of hits, including a triple, and scored a pair of runs. Lucas and Lowery had the two RBI on the consecutive run-scoring doubles in the sixth inning.

Game 2: Eight RubberDucks logged hits, including Destin Hood who ripped a double and triple to go with a pair of runs batted in. SS Erik Gonzalez ripped a double and had a sacrifice fly in the first inning. Anthony Gallas had a fifth-inning run-scoring double.

Notes

Game 1: RHP Adam Plutko made his Double-A debut after dominating at Single-A Lynchburg where he was 4-2 with a 1.27 ERA and coming off being named the Carolina League Pitcher of the Week for the week ending May 26...The run allowed by RHP Josh Martin snapped his 23.1 scoreless innings streak, which spanned 12 outings...Time of game was 2:27 (:39 delay from Weds.).

Game 2: Tyler Naquin extended his hitting streak to five games (9-for-20, .450) following his four-hit game in Game 1 Weds...With hits in both games, Bryson Myles extended his hitting streak to eight games (11-for-28, .393)...Reliever Jeff Johnson lowered his ERA to 0.47 (19.0 IP, 1 ER) and picked up his sixth save in six chances...Time of Game: 1:59...Attendance: 4,048

The RubberDucks will host the Erie SeaWolves for a three-game weekend series at Canal Park with Friday's game scheduled for 6:35 p.m. RHP Mike Clevinger (2-2, 2.84) will start for Akron and RHP Warwick Saupold (1-1, 4.83) will start for Erie.
