Florida Panthers Re-Sign Brett Olson to Two-Way Contract

Portland, ME - The Florida Panthers, new NHL affiliate of the Portland Pirates, today announced the re-signing of forward Brett Olson to a one-year, two-way NHL contract. Olson spent last season with Florida's previous AHL affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage.

Olson, a 6-foot-1, 185 pound center from Superior, Wisconsin, played in all 76 regular season games with the Rampage last season, his first in the Panthers organization. He scored 14 goals and added a career-high 31 assists for a total of 45 points, also a career high. Olson also finished the season with 58 penalty minutes and a plus-11 rating as he helped the Rampage win the AHL's West Division title.

In three Calder Cup Playoff games with San Antonio, Olson notched an assist.

Prior to signing a one-year, two-way deal with Florida last season, Olson played two seasons for the AHL's Abbotsford Heat. Before turning pro, he played four seasons of NCAA Division I men's hockey with the Michigan Tech University Huskies and was their captain in both his junior and senior seasons.
