Lansing Lugnuts News Release

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Catcher Danny Jansen's three-run double was the decisive blow in a four-run ninth-inning rally, keying the Lansing Lugnuts' 6-3 comeback win over the Bowling Green Hot Rods Wednesday at Bowling Green Ballpark.

The hit helped the Lugnuts tie the Hot Rods for first place in the Eastern Division at 27-20.

Hot Rods reliever Damion Carroll (Loss, 0-2) pitched a perfect eighth before loading the bases with no outs for Jansen in the ninth, protecting a 3-2 lead. Jansen's double barely escaped a jumping catch by left fielder Jace Conrad.

Reliever Mark Biggs (Win, 1-0) was in line for the loss before Jansen's hit after surrendering a run to Bowling Green in the bottom of the eighth. Biggs worked a spotless ninth.

Before Biggs, Jesus Tinoco worked six innings, tying a professional high. The starter alowed three hits, walked four, and struck out six.

Lansing overcame a two-run deficit earlier in the contest.

Anthony Alford (1-for-3, RBI) extended his on-base streak to 30 games with an RBI single in the third inning.

Rowdy Tellez (2-for-4) pounded his league-leading 38th RBI of the season on an RBI single in the sixth inning to even the score.

The final game of the three-game set pits the Midwest League's wins leader, Shane Dawson (6-2, 2.93 ERA), against right-handed pitcher Enderson Franco (3-3, 3.15 ERA), with first pitch at 7:35 p.m. Thursday.

The next Lugnuts homestand is June 3-8 with three-game series against the Burlington Bees and Peoria Chiefs. For more information, call (517) 485-4500 or visit lansinglugnuts.com.
