Summary

The RubberDucks pounded out 13 hits on their way to a 7-2 victory over the Thunder in game one of the doubleheader.

Turning Point

Tyler Naquin drilled a three run home run in the 6th inning, his first of the season, breaking a then 2-2 tie game

Mound Presence

Will Roberts (3-2) allowed 2 earned runs while scattered six hits in six innings of work. Jeff Johnson closed out the game with a scoreless inning. Johnson lowered his ERA on the season to 0.50.

Duck Tales

The Ducks scored five runs off of Trenton reliever Johnny Barbato. Tyler Naquin had four hits including his go ahead three run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Erik Gonzalez also launched a two run homer in the sixth inning.

Notes

Erik Gonzalez's fourth home run of the season now puts him in sole possession of the team lead in homers. Todd Hankins also contributed three hits of his own. Time of game was 2:11...Attendance: 1,922.

Up Next

The RubberDucks and Thunder will play a doubleheader Thursday evening starting at 5:05. They will pick up the game from the previous night in the bottom of the 3rd inning. LHP Caleb Smith (2-3, 5.13) will take the mound for Trenton in the second game, while LHP Shawn Morimando (3-4, 2.90) will start for Akron.
