Fresno Grizzlies News Release

FRESNO, Calif. - With one swing of the bat, the mood shifted in Downtown Fresno. One night after the Fresno Grizzlies (26-19) were limited to one run, Carlos Correa matched the total with a towering first inning solo home run (3) that traveled an estimated 424 feet onto the Luftenburg's building beyond the left field wall. The recently crowned No. 1 Prospect in baseball snapped a two-game hitless streak with the homer that came on an 0-1 breaking ball from lefty Tyler Lyons. Fresno starter Asher Wojciechowski danced around four walks to throw a quality start, while three relievers tossed scoreless innings to secure the 5-2 victory over the Memphis Redbirds (22-24) Tuesday night at Chukchansi Park.

Wojciechowski allowed one of his two runs in the first on a double by Stephen Piscotty that scored Dean Anna. The hit should've scored another run, but Carlos Correa's relay throw in from the grass in left field cut down Dan Johnson at the plate.

Another difference maker was catcher Tyler Heineman, who lined a two-run double just over the shortstop's glove to give Fresno a 3-1 lead in the fourth. Two more runs came in the fifth when Matt Duffy scored Robbie Grossman on an RBI double and L.J. Hoes plated Correa with a sacrifice fly.

The Fresno bullpen retired nine of 10 batters faced to erase any chance of a Memphis comeback.

The win by the Grizzlies snapped an eight-game winning streak by the Redbirds.

The two teams will play the pivotal third game of the series tomorrow at 11:05 AM at Chukchansi Park. The Grizzlies will have left-hander Brett Oberholtzer on the mound, who is making his third rehab start for Fresno and first since being placed back on the disabled list by the Houston Astros. He'll be matched up against Redbirds' lefty Tim Cooney (3-2, 3.48). Gates open to Chukchansi Park at 10:05 AM. The Grizzlies are offering a $25 Business Person Mixer package for Tuesday, which includes a ticket to the Owner's Suite and a lunch voucher to the Phoenix Club. The package can be purchased in person at the Chukchansi Park Box Office, which is open as early at 9:00 AM.
