Fur Circus, Replica Jersey Among Legends Homestand Highlights
May 27, 2015 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Lexington Legends News Release
(WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK, Lexington, Ky.) Entertainment by the Fur Circus and a free replica Legends jersey for children age 12 and under are among the highlights for a four-game Lexington Legends homestand that opens Thursday night. The homestand also includes two Ford Fireworks shows.
"It's another short but fun-packed home stand," said Legends President/CEO Andy Shea. "The Fur Circus has been a real favorite with our fans. We're glad to have them again at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. And the kids will love the replica jerseys."
The Legends, class A affiliate of the American League champion Kansas City Royals, will play the Greenville Drive, the class A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox and the South Atlantic League Southern Division leader.
Greenville has on its roster one of the top Red Sox prospects, Yoan Moncada, a native of Cuba who signed with Boston for $31.5 million earlier this year. Moncada suffered a hamstring injury in a game Saturday and has not played since then, but had not been placed on the disabled list as of Wednesday morning.
The schedule for the homestand:
Thursday, May 28: Legends vs. Greenville, 7:05 p.m. It's a Kentucky Ale Thirsty Thursday, and beer and Pepsi products will sell for one dollar each through the seventh inning.
Friday, May 29: Legends vs. Greenville, 7:05 p.m. The Fur Circus, (www.furcircus.com), a group of circus-themed characters who have performed at ballparks and other venues throughout the country, will entertain at Friday night's game. The group will also make an appearance Friday morning at Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Center, along with the Legends' Big L, from 9-10:30 a.m. A Ford Fireworks show will follow the game Friday.
Saturday, May 30: Legends vs. Greenville, 7:05 p.m. The first 1,000 fans age 12 and under will receive a replica jersey. The jerseys will have the Legends mustache logo on the front and the number 15 on the front and back, recognizing the 15th season of Legends baseball. Another Ford Fireworks show will follow the game.
Sunday, May 31: Legends vs. Greenville, 2:05 p.m. For the first time, the Legends are encouraging fans to "Pedal to the Park." There will be free valet parking for bicycles. It's also a Jif Kids Club Sunday, and Kids Club members receive free admission to the game. All kids may run the bases after the game. Membership in the Kids Club is free.
