Vargas Signed by Diamondbacks

(Bridgeport, Conn. - May 27, 2015) - Bridgeport Bluefish team officials today announced that infielder Ildemaro Vargas has had his contract purchased by the Arizona Diamondbacks organization. He will report to Single-A Kane County of the Midwest League.
"Ildemaro has shown a lot during his limited time here with us this season," says Bluefish manager Ricky VanAsselberg. "He has a tremendous amount of talent and we wish him the best with his new organization."
Vargas appeared in 30 games for the Bluefish in 2015, posting a .273 batting average with five doubles, eight RBI, 17 runs scored, and seven stolen bases. The 23-year-old made his professional debut in 2010 and spent all five of his professional seasons with the Cardinals organization, reaching as high as the Double-A Level.
In a corresponding roster move, the Bluefish have signed infielder Albert Gonzalez.
