Oklahoma City Baseball Club News Release
Salt Lake City, Utah - The Oklahoma City Dodgers set season highs with 11 runs and 18 hits as the offense erupted in an 11-5 win over the Salt Lake Bees Tuesday night at Smith's Ballpark.
The Dodgers (31-13) shattered the previous highs of eight runs and 14 hits, as they won their fifth straight game to tie their season-best win streak. They scored nine of their 10 runs and collected 13 of their 18 hits with two outs.
All nine players collected at least one hit. Six finished with a multi-hit game and three finished with at least two RBI.
Corey Seager went 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles, becoming the first OKC Dodger record a four-hit game this season. O'Koyea Dickson tied his season high with three hits, and both Dickson and Kyle Jensen led the Dodgers with three RBI apiece.
In the first game of his rehab assignment, L.A. Dodgers catcher Yasmani Grandal reached base four times, going 1-for-3 with three walks and three runs scored.
Although the Dodgers piled up 11 runs, they missed out on a chance to get on the board in the first inning, loading the bases with two outs. Salt Lake pitcher Nick Tropeano fell behind Jensen 3-0, but Tropeano came back to strike out Jensen and end the threat.
After being held to one run in the series opener, the Bees scored twice in the first inning. With two outs, Efren Navarro hit a two-run homer to right field to give Salt Lake an early 2-0 lead.
Jensen came up again with the bases loaded in the third inning. Given another chance, he was able to convert, sending a sacrifice fly to right field to get the Dodgers on the board.
The Dodgers rallied for six runs with two outs in the top of the fourth to take the lead. With a runner at first and two outs, six straight Dodgers reached base, with each of the last five collecting hits. Seager tied the game with a RBI double, and Dickson put OKC in front with a two-run single.
After a single by Buck Britton, Jensen recorded a RBI single. Andy Wilkins capped the rally with a two-run double. The Dodgers tied their season high for most runs in an inning and set a new season high with six hits in one inning.
The Bees responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth on a RBI groundout by Jett Bandy and a solo home run by Alfredo Marte.
In the fifth, the Dodgers pulled off another considerable two-out rally, plating three runs after having the bases empty. This time five straight reached base, with each of the last four collecting hits. Dickson, Britton, and Jensen provided consecutive RBI singles to make it 10-4.
Salt Lake cashed in on a triple by Navarro in the sixth, scoring what would be the Bees' final run of the night.
The Dodgers plated their last run in the eighth, again with two outs. Darnell Sweeney notched a RBI single, and ensured all nine Dodgers in the lineup finished with at least one hit.
Scott Baker tossed six innings and earned the win for OKC. He allowed five runs on seven hits. Baker (3-3) struck out four and did not allow a walk, marking the fourth time in his seven starts with OKC he did not issue a free pass.
The former OKC RedHawk Tropeano had a rough night and took the loss. Tropeano (2-2) allowed season highs with seven runs, nine hits, and four walks over a season-low 3.2 innings. He finished with three strikeouts.
The Dodgers look for a season-best sixth straight win when they meet the Bees Wednesday night at 7:35 p.m. Central time. Live coverage begins at 7:05 p.m. on AM 1340 "The Game", 1340thegame.com, or through the iHeartRadio mobile app.
