Three Run 14th for Power in 5-2 Win over BlueClaws

LAKEWOOD, NJ - West Virginia scored three times in the top of the 14th to break a tie and top the BlueClaws 5-2 on Tuesday night at FirstEnergy Park. The Power took the lead on a solo home run by Jordan Luplow off Manaure Martinez to break the 2-2 tie.

The Power win, their 5th straight, put them at 27-18 on the year while the BlueClaws drop their second straight game and fall to 21-23. The loss for Lakewood came in their longest completed game of the year and they are now 1-3 in extra innings while West Virginia improves to 2-2.

The BlueClaws left 11 on base and had the bases loaded with one out in the 13th inning before the Power's outburst in the 14th.

West Virginia scored twice in the 6th inning, aided by a throwing error by Lakewood catcher Deivi Grullon that scored the first run. An RBI single by Cole Tucker put the Power up 2-0.

The BlueClaws tied the game in the bottom of the 6th inning on an RBI single by Herlis Rodriguez and a bunt RBI single by Derek Campbell.

Lakewood starter Tyler Viza finished eight innings for the first time in his career, allowing two unearned runs. Alexis Rivero and Jason Zgardowski finished two scoreless innings apiece for Lakewood. Martinez (0-1) gave up three runs (one earned) and took the loss.

West Virginia starter Alex McRae gave up three hits over six scoreless innings. Sam Street gave up two runs in five innings and Junior Lopez threw three scoreless innings for the win, improving to 4-0.

Every BlueClaws starter had a hit, led by three from Rhys Hoskins.
