KEIZER, Ore. - Buster Posey, Tim Lincecum, Sergio Romo - these former Salem-Keizer Volcanoes and now current San Francisco Giants players all spent time here in the Willamette Valley before their time in the MLB ranks.
And they all spent time in the homes of local families during their first professional baseball season.
The Volcanoes are seeking host family candidates for the fast approaching season that begins June 17, 2015. This opportunity great way to spend the summer with family and friends, and your new Volcanoes summer son. Host families provide a true home for the Volcanoes in their first years as a pro baseball players. Additionally, host families gain access to a variety of in-season benefits for opening their homes to our players.
Salem-Keizer Volcanoes are professional baseball players in the San Francisco Giants Minor League System. All players whether drafted or signed as a free-agent are under contract with the San Francisco Giants. Most Volcanoes players are in their first or second year of professional baseball, ranging in age from 18 - 24 years old while coming from very diverse backgrounds. Players move to Salem-Keizer for the Northwest League season from all across the country and world.
Volcanoes players arrive in early June and depart in early September. While in Salem-Keizer, their schedule is very demanding: they play 76 games in 81 days; 38 of these games are home and 38 of these games are on the road. While at home there are workouts and practices they will attend on each gameday.
